    Default How to have a Unique password for each site. Yet remember every password.

    I can promise you this: No matter how many sites you use, you WILL remember the password for each site. From 1, to 1 million sites.

    Okay, there is only 3 steps involved.
    1. Create a random password.
    2. Create a code word.
    3. Position of code word.

    Got it?
    Great. Lets continue.

    So, we start with a password. We will start with this, as an example. Its a "strong" password.
    5~kjhgv<4t

    Now, you need to remember your password. Just that (and a *little* extra.)

    So part 2 is the code word. This is easy. For each website, get 2 or more of the characters (KEEP THE NUMBER THE SAME!), from the URL, in seperate places, and use that.
    So, I will use 2 characters. The Second, and the Last.
    Therefore, for the following sites, I will use these codewords:
    http://gamrr.com/ -> ar
    http://facebook.com/ -> ak
    http://hotmail.com/ -> ol

    Got it? Simple?

    The last bit is even easier! The position in the password you are going to have these codewords. I will pick After 2nd character.

    So my over all passwords for these sites will be:
    http://gamrr.com/ -> 5~arkjhgv<4t
    http://facebook.com/ -> 5~akkjhgv<4t
    http://hotmail.com/ -> 5~olkjhgv<4t

    Does that all make sense? I hope so.
    Now, go and change all your passwords, because using the "same" password on each site is a security risk.

    I use this method, on thousands of sites, and have only forgotten my password when I changed the original password.

    It works. It's "more" secure. Only YOU know the secret combination. Even if you forget the original password - you can write it down. No-one will know.

    *note, my password is 22 characters in length, before adding the codeword. I will NEVER reveal which characters of the URL I use, and in what order. Nor will I ever reveal where I insert this codeword.

      Topic Moved; Moved From 'GamRR Lounge'

    It sounds interesting, but there would be more of a chance I'd forget my password.

    If you use an easy to guess password, and even add the code word at the end of the URL, it makes your password unique to each site. Its still low-level on security, but its better than your year of birth

    Maybe so.
    But when you start administrating some websites, or one of your passwords gets hacked for "spamming" purposes...

    People generally leave the passwords the same on every site. And only chnage them when they NEED to.

    Even having:
    puppy10ar -> GamRR
    puppy10ak -> FaceBook

    A lot better than just: puppy10

    I've had the same password for almost 2 years. I've never ever been hacked, apart from ONCE which was a RS password, on which to this day, I think someone I lent it to changed it.
